What are Pocket Diapers?

A pocket diaper is one of the most popular cloth diapering styles and is often said to be the easiest method for new to cloth parents, daycares or other caretakers. A pocket diaper contains a waterproof layer (TPU), a pocket in which to stuff your absorbency and an inner material that goes against the bum. It is this inner material that creates the pocket. At Kanga Care, our pocket diapers come in two options: the Rumparooz and the Rumparooz OBV. Both have all the same features listed above, as well as our patented double gussets! What sets them apart is that the original Rumparooz has a stay dry microchamois interior, whereas the Rumparooz OBV has a velvety- soft Organic Bamboo Velour interior. Another benefit of pockets is that you can completely customize your absorbency to meet your needs and adjust as often as your little does! You can use less absorbency during the day, and add more at night. Our Rumparooz come standard with a microfiber 6R soaker set (which is actually two inserts for even further customization!) and the Rumparooz OBV comes standard with a bamboo 6R soaker set.

Kanga Care Cloth Diapers

Rumparooz and Rumparooz OBV Cloth Diapers are part of the Kanga Care brand based out of Golden, Colorado and they come in a variety of colors and designs. We also make EcoPosh One Size Fitted Diapers which are made from recycled water bottles, bamboo and organic cotton. These come in a variety of five colors, and pair wonderfully with the Rumparooz diaper covers. Both diapers are adjustable from newborn to over 40 lbs. For most babies, this means you can use the same diapers from birth, until they are potty trained. Both options will save your family around $300 over using sized cloth diapers. All our Kanga Care pocket diapers have our patented double inner gussets, which prevent leakage! They also feature our adjustable system of snaps, and customizable 6R soakers, all which makes our Rumparooz truly customizable to change and grow as your baby does! We have two newborn/ preemie diapers, which are the Lil Joeys and the Ecoposh OBV newborn size,  both are an All In One (AIO) system of cloth diapering. This means that the absorbency and everything is sewn right into the diaper. They also offer a snap down umbilical cord feature for easiest care during those early days.

Why Have Pockets?

Why pocket diapers? Why not just make the diapers more absorbent? Well, there are a couple of reasons for this. First of all, once your baby becomes more active, you will want to have a lighter, less bulky diaper so that they can move more easily when they are crawling or toddling. Having an AIO style diaper makes it harder to customize your absorbency to meet babies needs. So often you will end up with an over bulky diaper that may not be very comfortable. Pocket diapers allow you to change the absorbency as needed and keep the diaper more trim for baby’s comfort. The second reason is drying time; a lighter diaper and separate soaker will wash more thoroughly and dry faster than a bulky diaper that is sewn together.
By having a pocket that can accommodate a 6R insert for absorbency, the diaper is versatile and can be used both day and night, with no need to have two separate stacks of diapers. Deciding how to diaper your baby is one of the most important decisions you will make, right along with choosing a car seat and a crib. People are becoming aware of the problems with disposable diapers, both for the health and comfort of the baby, and for the good of the environment. Kanga Care is proud to help by offering a fine line of high quality cloth diapers, and accessories!
